SEND & INCLUSION

The Coundon Learning Centre (CLC)

Sometimes our students may need additional support in school. Here in the Coundon Learning Centre (CLC) we have a dedicated team who aim to remove any barriers to learning, to ensure everyone has the best chance of success.

A wide range of interventions take place in the CLC. Students may spend time in this area of school if they need support to catch up with their learning or to take part in individual or small group work. This will complement the work of our pastoral team who work with different year groups of students. Some students may work here if they need support meeting our school expectations – especially if it is hindering them or others from learning.

Health and Wellbeing is very important to us at Coundon Court. The CLC allows opportunities to talk in a safe space with trained professionals. In addition to learning rooms and quiet break out areas, we also have a Thrive and sensory room within the Coundon Learning Centre.

SEND Department

At Coundon Court, we pride ourselves in enabling every student with special educational needs to make as much progress as they can. We are a fully inclusive mainstream school and we strive to ensure all students achieve personally, socially, emotionally and academically – across all areas of our academic and wider co-curriculum.

Our SEND department comprises of an experienced and dedicated team who support our SENDCO, SEND team Leader and assistant SENDCO in order to deliver a high-quality provision for all of our students. We support students through a range of academic provisions: Literacy intervention, additional reading, numeracy interventions, alongside additional support where needed, including occupational therapy, speech and language interventions, social and emotional support and complex-communication sessions.

Our aim is to provide an inclusive, personalised environment with the support that encompasses the needs of all of our students, ensuring their time at Coundon Court provides them with the skills and confidence they require for their next steps in life.
